Practice in various aspects of the discipline of
professional counseling over the years, accumulating clinical experience
in mental health outpatient, family agency, psychiatric inpatient,
correctional, and substance abuse treatment settings, as well as private
practice; the last thirteen years being full-time private practice

Professional membership in the American
Counseling Association, the International Association of Marriage And
Family Counselors, the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious
Values in Counseling, and the North Carolina Society of Clinical
Hypnosis

Professional Counselor in N. C.

Continuing education over the post-graduate years has included either,
or a combination of: workshop/conference study, supervised practice, and
personal study in the above-referenced settings; with skill development
relevant to the settings. These include such areas as: family work,
including marriage counseling; mental health counseling; recovery from
life crises and trauma; substance abuse counseling; clinical hypnosis;
developmental conflicts and issues from adolescence through late
adulthood; relationship conflicts; parenting skills; counseling for
specific disorders, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders,
personality disorders, ADD/ADHD; counseling for catastrophic illness and
other life transitions; sexual dysfunction (psychogenic); energy work; psychoneuroimmunological

Treatment approaches at TRANSITIONS are eclectic, based upon many years
of adapting the most appropriate approaches to the presenting situation;
ranging from client-centered, to cognitive behavioral, brief therapy
approaches - including methods from Gestalt, Systems Theory, 12 Step, Logotherapeutic,
hypnosis/meditation-based, energy work, Thought Field Therapy and other transpersonal models.
